How to be clear?

why some teachers are better than others at getting us to understand things? what do they do to be more clear?. Clear teachers do more than speaking and lecturing, they guide students thinking  toward constructing learning. This code for a mental act within students mind that will result in their understanding. For a teacher to be clear in class, several tasks should be done by them which are referred as teachers behaviors toward clarity. The most important one from these tasks is framing the learning or framing a big picture about it, this start by communicating the objectives with students about what they should know and be able to do at the end of instruction. In addition to that clarity is found in the domain of presenting by mean what explanatory devices could be used by teacher that serve understanding of the lesson. A clear and simple terms code for better understanding and communication with students that effect their performance and achievement in class.

  1. Exactly! Sometimes we feel like in a completely different planet! Our teachers used to think that they are excellent while the fact was that we didn't get a word of what they were sating. And the most irrititating thing of all is that when they asked us if everything is clear we had to say yes otherwise will be the stupid ones in class. Teachers must be aware that they might not be so clear and therefore should recheck their techniques

  2. YESSS!!! It's necessary that teachers always while planning his/her lesson, to specify what are the suitable techniques for a better and clear understanding of the learners. As a result,, teachers will be succeeded and students will be high achievers.

  3. I like what u said malak ,that teachers ask us if everything is clear we had to say yes otherwise will be the stupid in the class. This is very real hint that all of us pass through it. What teachers should do is checking if students are really understanding or not. Its not fair that a teacher continue explanation without being sure that the idea is completely understood by all students.

  4. That's right ahlam, teacher must know that abilities differ from one students to other. This force the teachers to vary in their strategies to meet all students needs, what fit in one situation may not fit in another, even in the same session different objectives could be presented in different styles or strategies.for that its the role of the teacher to choose between teaching or learning.

  5. Clarity is a mental process, what to do, and what to do not do, it's how to make students involved, it help students not to lost and help in reducing and preventing problems. Being clear can help the teacher to guide the students thinking in deliberate ways along a structural routine engineered for thinking and learning.
As you said Ammar, the first concept of clarity is framing the learning, it's framing of the big picture by ensuring that the students understand the objectives, essential questions, and the reasons of activity. Then, is the process of teaching and learning, the process of presenting the information using diagrams, or analogies, or models...Another important concept of clarity is creating mental engagement by focusing on questions, making cognitive connections for example asking to compare and contrast. Another one is getting inside the students' heads to check for their understanding and make their thinking visible to finally consolidate and anchor learning through summarizing.

  6. You made a good point here Aammar, However, a clear instruction by the teacher starts with clear objectives. For a classroom teacher, setting goals can help both students and the teacher understand what knowledge, skills and behaviors the student is expected to obtain in a period of time. Having clear goals and objectives can help teachers to figure out what materials, strategies and methods are needed to teach. They help students to understand more about their teacher's expectations.
