learning styles

To meet all students needs, teachers must have a variety in the learning styles in class. Students abilities must be taken in consideration by teacher, for that its not fair to work on one strategy all the year without caring if its effective or not. Before going to the strategies, we should start with the teacher content knowledge by mean teachers cant teach what they don't understand or if they know basics facts about the topic. when this step is passed, its the time to look for pedagogical content knowledge which is understanding the ways of presenting a topic and what makes its learning easy or difficult. Back to the styles, teacher must have a repertoire of strategies that give them opportunity to choose the best one of them that fit the lesson.Even in the same period, different objectives may require different ways in presenting so its not a force to use one style all the year or even all the session.

  1. It is a necessity to have a variety of learning styles in the class to accommodate with the need of the students, because some of them are auditory, others are visual, and teachers should have materials that would be suitable for all learning styles to achieve the goal needed and in addition to variation of learning strategies.

  2. There are three main types of learning styles: Auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Most people learn best through combination of the three styles. The teacher should integrate the three learning styles within the class, in a way to meet the levels, needs and abilities of different students. Any child is able to develop the three types of learning styles, and just because a child has a dominant learning style does not mean that the other types can’t be improved.

  3. The more options you give your students to learn, the better they will understand their own learning techniques. If you have 20 kids and 10 are only able to work with the lesson, thats great; but what about the other kids? none ever fails a class because they can't learn, it is because they aren't learning the right way for them.
So, teachers should be always able to accommodate all types of students students that learn differently.
