ADHD


Definition:  Attention deficit hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most common childhood disorder disorders and can continue through adolescence and adulthood.

Symptoms:
-Difficulty staying focused and paying attention
-Difficulty controlling behaviors.
-Hyperactivity


Types of ADHD :

1) Inattention: In this case students have a difficult time focusing long enough to organize and complete their task. In some cases students often doesn't seem to listen when spoken to directly and loses things necessary for tasks or activities.

2)Impulsive: Students blurt out answers before questions have been completed.
                      -difficulty waiting for their turn.
                      -interrupt or intrudes others, cant control their action.

3)Hyperactivity: in this type students: - fidgets with hands or feet in seats
                                                               - leaves seat in classroom 
                                                               - has difficulty playing or engaging in activities quietly

Not all children with ADHD exhibit all of these behviors even if a child does exhibit particular behavior, it may be noticeable or bothersome under certain conditions. Person with ADHD should be associated with a moderate degree and present in multiple setting

Treatment
Before starting with the treatment, teachers must understand the problem, educate themselves about it and then take the decision.

- Cooperate with parents and discuss the teaching strategies with them so they can be carried on at home too.
- Follow special models of teaching. Use visual, charts, pictures, and color coding.
- Seat the students away from the window , give them instructions and put time limits on tasks.
- Teachers must be patient, approachable, and kind with them. Ask child to think for 10sec before responding. This time will force them to think well.
- Give them stress toys because they can help young people to concentrate and stop fidgeting.


There are many famous people who are now thought to have been ADHD. They used their high energy and creativity to become successful adults.What would our world be if they had been labeled, and discounted as troublemakers?
